Many people think reading books are very important in modern society, but some people believe it is no longer necessary because technology develop very fast. In my opinion, reading books still play a important role in our daily life, and it cannot be replaced by phones or computers easily.
First of all, books provide us with deep knowledge which is not easy to find on the internet. When people search information online, they often only read short articles and quickly forget it. However, when we read a book, we need to spend long time to understand the ideas, so the knowledge stay in our mind longer. For example, if a student read history book carefully, he will understand the background better than just watching a short video.
Secondly, reading books can improve people’s thinking ability. Books usually describe problems in a complex way, and readers must think by themselves. This process help readers develop logic thinking and imagination. If children read more books, they will become more creative and smarter in the future. Many parents does not realize this and let their children play games all day, which is not good for their growth.
Finally, reading books can make people feel relaxed. After a busy day, sitting quietly and read a book can reduce stress and makes people feel peaceful. Compared with using phone, reading books is more healthy for eyes and mind.
In conclusion, although technology change our life in many ways, reading books are still necessary. People should spend more time on books, not only because it give knowledge, but also because it help us become better person.
